West Bromwich Albion are set to be light at right-back for a number of months amid an update shared on Nolan Galves.

Galves sustained an injury in the second half of West Brom's win over Derby County in midweek.

The summer signing was introduced as a substitute after Brayann Pereira was sent off on his debut.

That left Morrison without a recognised right-back against Queens Park Rangers, meaning the versatile Callum Styles filled in there.

Pereira is now back from his ban, but being without Galves indefinitely is far from ideal.

That has led to calls for West Brom to look at recalling Alex Williams from his Hibernian loan spell, with an update now emerging on that possibility.

What has James Morrison said about Nolan Galves injury?

Galves arrived at The Hawthorns from French side Rodez towards the end of the summer transfer window.

The 23-year-old started Albion's first five Championship matches, as well as the Carabao Cup win over Rotherham United.

Galves had come in for criticism from West Brom fans, who felt he was at fault for multiple goals conceded.

Morrison is clearly a fan, though, even if he did drop the defender prior to his injury layoff.

In an update shared to reporters after the 1-1 draw against QPR on Saturday, Morrison confirmed Galves will be out "for a few months".

He has damaged his meniscus, meaning he is in a race to feature again this calendar year.

Can West Brom recall Alex Williams?

The obvious solution would be to recall Williams from his loan spell at Scottish Premiership side Hibernian.

Alfie Gilchrist, another right-back, is also out on loan at Leyton Orient.

However, asked specifically about the terms of Williams' loan deal with Hibs, The Express & Star's Lewis Cox shared via X on Sunday that there is no recall option until January at the earliest.

The same is believed to be true for Gilchrist at Orient, so the Baggies are going to have to plod on for now until Galves is back, hopefully prior to January.
