Sky Sports pundit David Prutton has predicted that West Brom will stay top of the table with a comfortable win against Barnsley on Tuesday night.
It took a late goal from Hal Robson-Kanu to beat Middlesbrough on Saturday but the 1-0 win saw Slaven Bilic’s side stay top of the pile, with Leeds in second.
Leeds play Preston on Tuesday and Prutton thinks they will drop three points in the race for the title.
That would give the Baggies the chance to pull clear at the top and he thinks they will do that with a 3-1 win.
Writing on Sky Sports, Prutton said, “West Brom are starting to look the team to beat in the Championship this season. They are tighter at the back and although they may lack a consistent main striker they have goals coming from all over.
“Barnsley still haven’t won since the opening day of the season but they played far better against Swansea on Saturday than I have seen them in a while, and deserved the draw at least. That being said, West Brom will be too good for them.”
West Brom’s top scorers are wingers Grady Diangana and Matty Phillips with four each. By contrast, the two main strikers Kenneth Zohore and Charlie Austin only have two apiece.
That might be a problem that needs solving in January but as long as the goals are coming, that’s good enough for Bilic at the moment.
