West Brom are not interested in signing West Ham striker Albian Ajeti despite reports elsewhere, according to Football.London.
The news outlet reports that the Hammers are trying to sell Ajeti, 23, on a permanent basis and would consider letting him leave on loan if there is an option-to-buy clause tied in.
Celtic were said to be close to landing Ajeti on loan with an obligation to sign him for £5million if he played a certain number of games.
However, an update by Football.London says that Slaven Bilic has no interest in signing the West Ham attacker this summer despite being interested in him last summer before he left Basel to head to the London Stadium.
West Brom fans will no doubt be delighted with this news.
Ajeti failed to score in 12 appearances for West Ham last season and didn’t even get named to start a single Premier League fixture by Manuel Pellegrini or David Moyes.
He did, however, start against the Baggies in the FA Cup when West Ham lost 1-0 at the London Stadium to Bilic’s side.
Stats by WyScout show that in that match, Ajeti failed to hit the target with his one and only shot, failed to complete the two dribbles he attempted and made just 11 accurate passes in the entire game.
Ajeti’s been a flop for West Ham so far.
He’s not the kind of player who Albion should be trying to sign this summer and, thankfully, it seems they are not.
In other West Brom news, the Baggies are ready to table a bid for this South American goal machine.
