West Brom are desperate to sign a new striker before the window shuts in less than two weeks.
They appear to be more than desperate, with the Sun claiming the Baggies are plotting a move for Emmanuel Adebayor.
Slaven Bilic is said to have held conversations with close connections of the Premier League icon, as he could seal a free transfer to the Hawthorns.
Adebayor is “desperate” to reach 100 goals in the Premier League, with his tally remaining at 97 after spells with Manchester City, Arsenal and Tottenham.
The forward is said to be a “fallback” option should other moves not materialise in the window, like the interest in Huddersfield’s Karlan Grant.
Grant remains as Albion’s number one target and wants to move to the Hawthorns, although the £16million fee appears to be a problem [Steve Madeley].
Carlos Corberan spoke out on Thursday, claiming that it feels like a “standby situation” with no movement on any potential deal as of yet.
West Brom need pace in the final third, and a clinical finisher – although Adebayor could offer the latter, he certainly isn’t as dynamic as he once was.
The 36-year-old is way past his best, and Bilic needs a younger, fresher player, like Grant, who can come in and offer something different to the likes of Hal Robson-Kanu and Charlie Austin.
Many Baggies fans have reacted to the latest update, with the majority simply laughing it off as they can’t believe the links with the Togo forward.

We laugh now… but Adebayor has “Robson-Kanu Part 2” written over every inch of it… half an hour before they close the window…”We are just hearing from the Hawthorns…”
