E&S journalist: Player due at West Brom today to complete permanent transfer
Karlan Grant’s move to West Brom from Huddersfield will be permanent deal rather than a loan, according to Express and Star reporter Joseph Masi.
Grant looks set to move to the Hawthorns before the closure of the domestic transfer window on Friday and is reportedly booked in for a medical today (Thursday).
It has also been suggested that the deal for Grant may be a loan move with either the option or obligation to make the deal permanent next summer, but Masi tweeted from his personal Twitter account on Wednesday night saying that the transfer would indeed be permanent.
Slaven Bilic looks to have finally got his man after a summer-long hunt and it now seems the Baggies have secured the permanent services of Grant ahead of Monday night’s tie with Burnley, in which the English forward could make his debut.
This will come as extra relief to West Brom fans who must’ve been dreading the thought of facing Burnley without a first-team striker available.
Callum Robinson is likely to miss the game as he needs to isolate after coming into close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 while on international duty.
Hal Robson-Kanu will also miss the game as he has a broken arm and Charlie Austin and Kenneth Zohore may well not be Baggies players come Monday evening as they have both been linked with moves away from the Hawthorns.
Albion fans may get their first look at their new man in Monday night’s game because at this point it seems that Bilic has no choice but to start the 23-year-old forward. Hopefully, he can get his West Brom career off to a flying start and help the Baggies get their first win of the season.
In other West Brom news, Albion are in advanced talks to sell this player.
