Sports Management Int’ have confirmed that West Brom youngster Saul Shotton has signed a new contract at the Hawthorns.

Writing on their official Twitter account on Monday afternoon, the sports agency shared that the young defender has extended his stay with the Baggies.

Shotton is currently out on loan with Woking and recently featured in their 5-1 demolition of Dover last weekend.

Shotton signed for West Brom back in 2019 from Bury and was a regular for the under-23s in the Premier League 2 last season.

The 20-year-old made his first-team debut against Charlton in the FA Cup last season and has clearly impressed Slaven Bilic during those cameos.

Described as a “ball-playing” central defender in his player profile, he fits the requirements of what is expected by Bilic in his backline.

This will be a huge vote in confidence for Shotton, who is signing a new contract despite only arriving at the Hawthorns last year.

How has Shotton fared in Woking?

The 20-year-old has made six appearances so far and has only lost in one of those against Boreham Wood last month.

In one of his standout performances, Shotton dominated against Halifax Town. The defender made nine interceptions, as well as 19 recoveries according to WyScout.

He has clearly caught the eye in the National League, and although it is a big step up, Shotton will want to be in-and-around the first-team next season.

Premier League football isn’t guaranteed for the Albion, but that is exactly what Shotton will be targeting before his next contract in the midlands.
