Adrian Clarke blasts Allardyce ahead of West Brom clash v Arsenal
Former Arsenal winger Adrian Clarke has claimed that the West Brom dressing room will be ‘very very low’ ahead of their clash against the Gunners.
Allardyce heavily criticised his players after this week’s 5-0 loss to Leeds United and Clarke believes that his comments won’t have done the Baggies dressing room any favours.
Speaking on the Totally Football Show podcast, Clarke claimed that the Albion players may not be fans of Allardyce.
He said, “He’s [Allardyce] laid into his players, he’s basically said that they’re not good enough and he’ll be looking to bring in upgrades in January.
“I do wonder how that will have down in the dressing room, a dressing room that I’m sure will have been quite sad to see Slaven Bilic go.
“I’m not buying into the theory that Slaven had lost the dressing room and everyone was welcoming Big Sam with open arms. I think that dressing room will feel very very low, ahead of the Arsenal game.”
Clarke has a point about Allardyce’s comments as they were the last thing that the players will have wanted to hear after receiving a considerable drubbing on the pitch.
However, Allardyce isn’t going to sugarcoat the situation that the Baggies find themselves in and in fairness, they were awful against Leeds.
Allardyce isn’t going to come out and say that his side played well when they didn’t, this was probably an attempt to get a reaction from his players and this is something he desperately needs.
Albion welcome Arsenal to The Hawthorns on Saturday and now the Gunners look to be finding their feet again this game couldn’t have come at a worse time for Allardyce.
As a bare minimum, Baggies fans will be expecting more effort against Arsenal and a performance that is closer to the showing Albion produced against Liverpool.
If West Brom don’t improve it will be a long afternoon for the Albion faithful.
In other West Brom news, Arsenal could welcome back two senior players for their clash against the Baggies.
