West Brom midfielder Rekeem Harper is set to leave the Hawthorns on loan in the January transfer window, according to Birmingham Live.
The online source have reported on their website that half a dozen Championship sides are lining up to take the 20-year-old for the remainder of the season.
Celtic have been previously linked with a move for Harper, but it has been made clear that he won’t be making that switch this month.
Harper will only leave the Hawthorns this month after the Baggies have brought in reinforcements in the midfield area.
Leicester City’s Hamza Choudhury is Sam Allardyce’s number one target this month, and it appears as though the Baggies have made progress with that deal.
The Express and Star have reported that Choudhury is eager on the switch to the Hawthorns, and looks set to fill the last domestic loan spot available to them.
Harper still has some years left on his current deal on his Baggies contract, and he must use this chance to prove himself to Allardyce with regular minutes under his belt.
Having said that, if Big Sam thought that Harper was good enough, surely he would have got chances this season.
The FA Cup defeat against Blackpool was the perfect opportunity to hand him minutes, but instead, the midfielder was an unused substitute as his side crashed out.
Harper has only completed 30 minutes of action in the Premier League, and it is clear that he needs to leave in order to get action – this could be a smart move.
