Well, it’s fair to say West Brom won’t have been expecting that.
When Burnley travelled to Anfield we thought the only question was how many they’d lose by.
Instead, Burnley pulled off one of the shocks of the season so far and ended Liverpool’s incredible 68-game unbeaten home run in the Premier League.
With Brighton beating Leeds last week and now this, results have started turning for the worse as far as Albion are concerned.
Burnley are now eight points ahead of us and we’re six points from safety after Brighton’s win.
The task facing us is clearly getting a lot harder.
Plenty of West Brom fans were plunged into despair after the result with one saying, “Burnley are everything that Albion should be trying to be, organised, fit, strong, playing for the manager, playing to their own strengths…”
It’s tough to argue with that assessment and it’s hard to see West Brom pulling off a similar shock against an in-form Man City side on Tuesday.
However, we’ve already taken a point off them this season and let’s not forget that this is a Liverpool side that’s off the boil – we drew 1-1 with them a few weeks back.
One optimistic fan tickled us when he said, “City can surely afford to give us 3 points on Tuesday now.”
Others were not seeing the bright side in the shock development in what’s turning out to be a very unpredictable Premier League…
That's the relegation spots already sorted. I would say it's was nice while it lasted but it's been an absolute nightmare #wba

Burnley are everything that Albion should be trying to be, organised, fit, strong, playing for the manager, playing to their own strengths, it may not be “pretty football” but they don’t care one bit, it gets results, and that’s why they consistently stay up! #wba

Not deafest but that result tonight I think is half the nails into the coffin… unless this leaky defence improves and we somehow get luck on our side then it’s only going one way #wba
