Graham Potter has shared an injury update on his Brighton squad ahead of this weekend’s game against West Brom at The Hawthorns.
After losing to Crystal Palace on Monday, Brighton find themselves firmly in the relegation battle which amps up the importance of this weekend’s clash.
Potter will be welcoming back Tariq Lamptey to his squad with the defender missing since December but this weekend will come too soon for the injured Adam Webster.
Potter is quoted by The Argus as saying that Webster may not return for Brighton until after next month’s international break.
He said, “Adam Webster is taking a bit longer than we thought, getting to the grips of his injury it looks like after the international break.
“Well he [Lamptey] has trained again today, so we will see how he reacts but he should be available for the squad, but not to start.”
Lamptey could still play a role this weekend but the fact that he won’t be starting will be a small boost to Albion.
The 20-year-old started the season in blistering form, picking up three assists in his first three Premier League games.
He has been injured since mid-December and now he has returned to training he will be raring to go.
Webster missing the game is also a boost for the Baggies as he had only missed one game this season until he picked up an injury against Aston Villa.
He is an experienced head in the Brighton team and Potter will be ruing having a key defender missing as his side comes up against Mbaye Diagne who has proved to be more than a handful for defenders.
We must capitalise on Brighton’s weakened defence and put them to the sword if we are to have any chance of staying up.
