Manchester United and Everton join hunt for Ainsley Maitland-Niles
West Brom loanee Ainsley Maitland-Niles has attracted interest from several Premier League clubs, according to the Daily Mail.
Southampton have been linked once more after eyeing the midfielder in January [The Sun], while Leeds are also rumoured to be chasing the 23-year-old.
Everton and billionaire-owned Manchester United [Forbes] are the other two clubs reportedly in the hunt for Maitland-Niles, who is set to return to Arsenal when his loan spell ends.
He has made 12 appearances for Albion and has missed just one match, the clash at The Emirates last Sunday.
New midfield needed
West Brom have left themselves in a difficult position this summer due to our main midfielders only being with us on a temporary basis.
There was good news on Monday that Okay Yokuslu is considering making his loan deal permanent [The Athletic], but even if he signs we will need to make several additions.
Maitland-Niles and Conor Gallagher are set to return to their parent clubs while Romaine Sawyers and Jake Livermore could also leave.
The duo have barely featured in the second half of the season and are seemingly not favoured by Sam Allardyce.
If the Albion boss stays we expect him to make additions, and signing a player like Maitland-Niles could be very useful in the Championship.
After all, pundit Paul Robinson described the Englishman as “phenomenal” in February [Football Insider].
He boasts good versatility but also provides a lot of energy in the middle of the park, and that will be missed when he goes.
We have a big rebuilding job on our hands so hopefully Big Sam and Luke Dowling are already eyeing replacements for Maitland-Niles.
In other West Brom news, a BT pundit has made a definitive West Brom transfer claim amid Premier League interest.
