West Brom 'Very close' to appointing Valerein Ismael
A deal to take Valerein Ismael from Barnsley to West Brom is now “very close”, according to The Sun journalist Alan Nixon.
It has been reported for some time that the Frenchman would be taking over the reigns at The Hawthorns, but there has been no official confirmation up to this point.
The West Midlands side have been close to deals for other managers like Chris Wilder and David Wagner without getting anything over the line.
But it appears that a deal to take Ismael from the Tykes is imminent, after Nixon was asked for an update on his personal Twitter profile.
He wrote on Thursday night: “Close. Very close now.”
Surely, surely, we can expect official confirmation on Thursday.
Nixon has said that a deal is now “very close”, which indicates that it is all-but wrapped up.
He posted a rather concerning and cryptic tweet on Tuesday, saying the parties had been “finalising it” for a couple of days, followed by a thinking emoji.
But Wednesday saw Nixon adopt a much more positive stance on Ismael’s expected move to West Brom, and dare we say it’s got us excited.
Pre-season training begins on Monday so it was vital that we got a manager through the door before then so that they can assess our options, devise a training programme and plot our moves in the transfer target.
It will be a tight turnaround before that date but if Ismael is confirmed this week he will at least have a few days to make his plans and get everything sorted before work begins on Monday.
Let’s hope the next thing we hear about Ismael is straight from the mouth of the Baggies board welcoming him to the club.
In other West Brom news, this Albion youngster has been spotted signing a deal with Chelsea.
