Brentford join West Brom race for Trevoh Chalobah

West Brom are facing stiff competition for the signing of Chelsea midfielder Trevoh Chalobah this summer.

The Express and Star have reported a new twist in the race on Tuesday after the Baggies had held positive talks with the 22-year-old.

Brentford are now said to be in the race after their promotion to the Premier League at the end of last season.

Teams in Germany are also said to be interested, making this one more complicated than it first looked.

Reports suggested last week that West Brom would get the deal completed over the next seven days, but that has changed.

Now, it is just positive talks, and it doesn’t appear close to completion, as twists and turns continue to happen.

Door open.

Thomas Tuchel has made it clear that he is ready to let Chalobah leave Stamford Bridge after he failed to make it into the first team.

Given that no fee is likely to be demanded, the interest is guaranteed to grow in this current cash-strapped market during this global pandemic.

The 22-year-old has completed two seasons in the Championship with Ipswich and Huddersfield, as well as adding valuable experience in Ligue 1 this year.

Chalobah would be given a big role under Valerien Ismael, who is clearly keen to bolster his midfield options moving into the season.

Alex Mowatt has already signed, and it looks as though another midfielder could make it two for the Baggies.

Expect twists and turns along the way, it looks as though the race for Chalobah could get heated this week.
