Matheus Pereira reacts as West Brom confirm Castro signing

West Brom announced their second signing of the summer on Tuesday morning, but it wasn’t an expected one.

The Baggies confirmed the signing of Quevin Castro, a midfielder that had completed a successful trial in recent months.

Valerien Ismael must have cast his eye on the 19-year-old who was here before the Frenchman arrived.

Described as a powerful midfield option, Castro will likely replace the outgoing Tim Iroegbunam.

One person who approved the announcement was superstar Matheus Pereira, who reacted on his personal Twitter account.

It may only be one simple emoji, but Pereira replying gives us all hope that he could stick around at The Hawthorns.

We know it is a small gesture, but if the Brazilian is happy, then so are we.

Initially linking up with the under-23s ahead of the Championship season, there will obviously be chances for Castro to train with the first team.

Should he impress enough, that will lead to opportunities to feature on the bench on matchday, and we will go from there.

Iroegbunam leaving for Villa is going to be a real blow, but we are glad that the Baggies have acted quickly and delivered with a replacement already.

Castro has impressed Pereira, and it will take a lot to do that from a player who has had to watch the likes of Romaine Sawyers and Jake Livermore every single day since arriving.

Time will tell, but it appears as though we could have secured a real talent here as we plan for the future under Ismael.
