Confirmed West Brom starting XI v Woking

West Brom have confirmed their starting XI for their first official pre-season clash with Woking this evening.

Valerien Ismael will complete his first game in front of the travelling Baggies support after taking over the reins.

Confirmed on Twitter prior to kick-off, the Albion have not included Matheus Pereira, which will no doubt spark speculation.

Sam Johnstone will be one of the only faces late back to pre-season training, and it is a great opportunity for others.

Alex Mowatt being involved is something every single fan will be relishing after he became the first signing of the Ismael era

Not many will have expected Pereira to still be here given our relegation, but the closer we get to the season, the more realistic that may be.

His absence this evening could be a big sign it might not be for long though, although we cross our fingers.

The result won’t mean much at the end of this one, but gaining those valuable minutes in the legs means everything.

Training can be as intense as you like, but there is nothing quite like getting out into a game and building up matchday fitness.

Ismael will want his side to dominate possession and smash numerous goals past their non-league opponents, but it may be difficult as he implements his system.

Expect high-pressing and counter-attacking in the Championship, but the latter may not happen given the level of Woking, no offence to them.

We already can’t wait for the Championship to get going, and this officially starts the countdown to the start of next month.
