Matt Holland slams Jayson Molumby in Ireland clash v Serbia
West Brom fans were made to wait to see two of their own in the Republic of Ireland clash with Serbia on Tuesday evening.
Callum Robinson and Jayson Molumby started on the bench in Dublin but came on to help rescue their side a 1-1 draw late on.
It was the midfielder who caught the eye, but maybe in the wrong way for Matt Holland at the Aviva Stadium.
After a late challenge and poor reaction towards the officials, Molumby picked up a booking and will miss the first clash of the next break.
Speaking on Sky Sports during the game, Holland was not impressed with what he saw from the midfielder.
“Overzealous,” he said.
“He gets a bit of the ball but he gets the man first. Caught up in the emotion.”
Valerien Ismael will likely have kept a close eye on this one.
Not many of our own were playing this evening, but giving Ireland had not only Molumby, but Robinson after his COVID blow, there were many reasons to tune in.
The midfielder is known for putting himself around the park and getting stuck in, but he will surely pick up plenty of cards this season if he plays as close to the line as this one.
Holland was right to insist he was caught up in the moment, and with the Baggies set to control most games in the Championship, he could be much calmer.
With old side Millwall coming up on Saturday, Molumby will likely be on the bench and raring to get on and make an impact on his potential debut.
Bring it on.
