According to The Telegraph, West Brom received an enquiry over whether or not they would be interested in signing Ross Barkley on loan during the summer.

However, the £110,000-a-week wages that the 27-year-old England international earns at Chelsea made financing such a deal impossible for the Baggies.

Barkley is out of favour at Stamford Bridge at the moment and is very much likely to be available on loan in January again from the look of things.

We asked our esteemed panel of West Brom Super Fans whether they would be open to having him at The Hawthorns when the winter transfer window opens.

Here’s what they had to say.

Conor Gallagher was an inspired loan signing from Chelsea last season, scoring twice and assisting twice in 30 Premier League appearances, and it is not a surprise that both clubs briefly discussed another loan deal in the final days of the summer.

While West Brom were unable to get a deal done, there is no denying that Barkley could have been a fine addition to Valerien Ismael’s side.

The midfielder is definitely a cut above the Championship, but whether he would have been keen on such a move is unknown.

Chelsea would need to be willing to pay a large chunk of his wages for a temporary move to The Hawthorns to work out.

For now, Barkley will be looking to get into Thomas Tuchel’s star-studded squad.

That remains a tough challenge for him, and should Albion look Premier League-bound by January and the midfielder is still available for a move, just maybe all the parties involved would be able to get a deal done.

In other West Brom news, pundit is certain the Baggies star will be handed new deal with clause inserted.
