Predicted West Brom starting XI v QPR
Valerien Ismael could be ready to hand Kean Bryan his West Brom debut on Friday as QPR visit The Hawthorns.
Bryan, 24, signed for the West Midlands club on September 7 after injuries to centre-back duo Matt Clarke and Dara O’Shea, but he has been kept away from the limelight thus far, gaining match fitness for the Under-23 side.
However, in quotes relayed by the Express & Star, Ismael has delivered an exciting update on the ex-Sheffield United man.
“He (Bryan) is training well, he’s available now,” Ismael said.
“We’ll see, but so far, he’s made everything with the intensity.
“It was much better, better feeling, better understanding and better principle. Now he is more ready.”
Ismael must now weigh up whether to hand Bryan a start, or to introduce him slowly into the side.
We think he may hand him 45 minutes or an hour from the start, allowing Conor Townsend to revert to his usual left wing-back position instead of Adam Reach.
Kyle Bartley, Semi Ajayi and Darnell Furlong make up the rest of the back five in front of Sam Johnstone.
Ever-presents Jake Livermore and Alex Mowatt look certain to carry on in central midfield, but as ever, there is likely to be some form of rotation up top.
Jordan Hugill should be handed another start as he bids to ignite his Albion career, while Matt Phillips’ equaliser against Preston North End last week could keep him in the side.
Grady Diangana has split opinion during the early stages of the season, but he’s generally been spared the Ismael chop, starting all but one of their eight Championship games so far.
However, it may be time to test his talents from the bench later in the game, particularly with a midweek trip to Cardiff City on the horizon.
Callum Robinson could therefore make only his second start since August 21.
Here’s how we expect Albion to line up tonight.
