David Prutton predicts West Brom clash vs Stoke City
West Brom return to action on Friday with a trip to Stoke City, and Valerien Ismael and his boys will be looking to build on Tuesday’s 4-0 victory at Cardiff.
The emphatic win saw them go top of the Championship table, and another convincing win on the road will see them head into the international break with their status as league leaders intact.
David Prutton is expecting a tough encounter at the Britannia Stadium given the recent form of the Potters, but he has tipped West Brom to narrowly secure a 3-2 win.
The Sky Sports pundit wrote in his column: “I’ve got a lot of respect for what Michael O’Neill has done with Stoke this season so far. They’ve turned the squad around there and it’s settled well.
“West Brom gave Cardiff a bit of a flattening to follow up on a good comeback win against QPR.
“They are at the top of the table and I fancy them to – at least briefly – extend that lead on Friday night.”
Stoke are fifth in the table heading into the game having won five games, drawn thrice and lost twice, and they will be looking to become the first team to beat the Baggies.
The Hawthorns outfit have six wins and four draws so far, and heading into the break undefeated will come as a significant boost.
O’Neill’s side have not lost at home so far this term, winning four games and drawing once, and they also have a record to protect.
West Brom should not expect an easy game against their fellow promotion hopefuls, but they will certainly be full of belief after dismantling Cardiff.
Ismael has a complete squad to pick his team from, with long-term injury absentee Dara O’Shea the only one unavailable.
The Frenchman could have a few selection headaches, but with the players keen to prove themselves, he knows that anyone picked will be giving his all as everyone keeps an eye on the prize.
