West Brom Super Fans react as Johnstone is linked with January exit

This is part of a regular series from our panel of West Brom Super Fans. Each week, Super Fans from our West Brom News Facebook page will deliver their verdicts on the biggest talking points and news stories around The Hawthorns.

West Brom could be forced to sell Sam Johnstone in January if suitors part with around £10million, according to the Daily Mail.

The England goalkeeper, 28, is out of contract at the end of the season, and the Baggies are resigned to the prospect of losing for nothing in the summer.

A sizeable offer during the winter transfer window could see them allow him leave, though, but given the financial reward that comes with promotion, they could opt to hold on to him instead.

We asked our esteemed panel of West Brom Super Fans whether cashing in on Johnstone could be worth it.

Here’s what they had to say…

Valerien Ismael’s side are currently third in the Championship table, and they risk missing out on automatic promotion given recent results and performances.

They have managed to get some points on board despite struggling to play well, but they are not better than league leaders Bournemouth and second-placed Fulham, and it is hard to see how they can finish above either.

With six points separating them from the top-two, The Hawthorns outfit could be forced to settle for a place in the play-offs.

Failing to earn promotion and losing Johnstone will be a double blow.

Given his quality, it is understandable if they are willing to risk it and hold on to him.

However, they should not stop him from leaving in January if he wants to, but getting £10million for his signature could be tough, though.

Failure to hand him a new deal in time could prove costly at the end of the day, and an immediate return to the Premier League is the only way they can get a win out of this.
