According to The Athletic journalist Steve Madeley, individual errors from West Brom defenders have left Valerien Ismael frustrated and puzzled.

The Baggies have committed most defensive errors so far this term, making five errors leading to goals and nine errors leading to shots from the opponents.

The Frenchman is not pleased as the mistakes have proven costly and could harm their chances of clinching automatic promotion.

We asked our esteemed panel of West Brom Super Fans whether Ismael’s squad is good enough to finish in the top two and what they think about the report.

Here’s what they had to say…

Playing direct is the style of the former Barnsley manager, but could it be proving difficult for some of the players?

Playing possession-based football sees even the best players commit errors, and if styles are not to blame, are West Brom players simply not just happy carrying out the instructions of the head coach?

We would never know what is happening behind the scenes, but it is clear that the Frenchman wants more from his men, and they have simply not delivered.

Finishing in top-two with this style of play looks almost impossible for The Hawthorns outfit, and Ismael may need to come up with another plan.

With the January transfer window approaching, he could be looking to make one or two additions to strengthen his squad, and he needs to sign players used to playing his style.

Having missed out on promotion with Barnsley last term by losing the semifinals playoffs, the Baggies boss will be keen to avoid going that route again.
