Alan Nixon casts doubt on West Brom move in January for Tom Lawrence

Alan Nixon has cast doubt on West Brom making a January move for Derby County star Tom Lawrence.

The Welsh international is said to be available on a free deal due to the Rams’ financial trouble as things stand [Daily Mail].

Nixon, a reliable journalist for The Sun insisted that the wages may be a problem for any club, never mind just Derby.

Usually quizzed on social media on transfer links and rumours, Nixon was given Lawrence and his next move to discuss.

Writing on his personal Twitter account, the reliable journalist admitted that there was no certainty behind that one.

“Not so sure about that,” he wrote.

No chance?

If there is one area that the Baggies don’t need reinforcements, it is out wide with numerous options already available.

Valerien Ismael is said to have made a striker his priority with the number one target said to be Orlando talisman, Daryl Dike.

Lawrence has brilliant Championship experience and would no doubt be a decent addition, especially for free, but wages of nearly £40,000-a-week surely put this one out of our reach.

Described at times as a “Magician”, Lawrence is capable of the extraordinary, but so was Adam Reach, and that one hasn’t exactly set the world alight.

With limited funds, the Albion need to be smart in the windows and bringing Lawrence in would surely not make much sense.
