Kevin Phillips: Jake Livermore & Alex Mowatt to start for West Brom v Huddersfield

We’re delighted to welcome former West Brom striker Kevin Phillips as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Hawthorns

Kevin Phillips has backed West Brom duo Alex Mowatt and Jake Livermore to start against Huddersfield this afternoon.

Valerien Ismael confirmed the boost that both were available for the Championship clash in West Yorkshire.

Phillips insisted that both would start even when only 95% fit because they are just that good compared to others in the squad.

Speaking exclusively to West Brom News, Phillips said, “Definitely.

“When them two are fit, 100% they’re the first choice. They’ve got good cover and they’ve done good jobs with Snodgrass.

“That is Ismael’s best pairing, and for me, they start the game, even if they are only 95% fit, the relationship they have built up is excellent.

“They definitely start for me.”

No brainer.

Mowatt is the one who has been missing.

The former Barnsley man has been critical to our success under Ismael so far this season and has been a massive miss.

Having him in the middle of the park will be brilliant and should see the Baggies control more of the ball throughout games.

Livermore alongside him also allows Mowatt to roam around the pitch more and dominate opposition players on and off the ball.

It is surely a guarantee that both will start in Yorkshire this afternoon, and three points are certainly on the menu to kickstart this busy period approaching Christmas.
