Sky Sports duo stunned by alarming West Brom statistic after 0-0 draw with Nottingham Forest
West Brom are without a goal since November 6 after Friday night’s 0-0 draw with Nottingham Forest at The Hawthorns.
Valerien Ismael’s side have drawn blanks against Huddersfield Town [0-1], Blackpool [0-0] and now Forest as their bid for automatic promotion takes a huge hit.
Their last goal came against Middlesbrough in a 1-1 home draw and they have just one in their last six games, despite a multitude of shots taken.
Michelle Owen was in disbelief at the statistic on Sky Sports after Friday’s game. She said: “Staggeringly, 61 shots on goal across the three games and not scored, I mean that is staggering, isn’t it?
“It’s incredible,” ex-England defender Michael Dawson replied.
Barn door intact
A lot of blame can be laid at Ismael’s door in terms of his tactics and substitutions this season.
However, it’s hard to point the finger fully at the ex-Barnsley boss after some of the finishing that has been on show from his forwards.
Last night, Albion took 16 shots with just three on target.
Some of those were clear-cut opportunities as well, with substitute Jordan Hugill the most guilty party after he squandered a chance with the goal at his mercy in the dying embers of the game.
Karlan Grant is enjoying a decent campaign with eight goals in 20 appearances, but no one else has more than three in the Albion side (Callum Robinson, Alex Mowatt and Matt Phillips all level on three goals).
That is an alarming statistic, and it shows why they are being left behind by Fulham and Bournemouth, who have four and three players respectively on more than three goals.
In other West Brom news, Albion want to sign this centre-forward sensation after a weekend scouting mission overseas.
