West Brom Super Fans react to links with Dilan Markanday

This is part of a regular series from our panel of West Brom Super Fans. Each week, Super Fans from our West Brom News Facebook page will deliver their verdicts on the biggest talking points and news stories around The Hawthorns.

According to The Mirror, West Brom are keen on bringing Tottenham forward Dilan Markanday to The Hawthorns on loan in January.

Valerien Ismael wants to bolster his attack, and he is eyeing the 20-year-old alongside the likes of Bournemouth, Stoke and Blackburn.

Markanday has played mainly for Spurs under-23s, with 11 goals and four assists to his name in 11 appearances in the Premier League 2 this term.

We asked our esteemed panel of West Brom Super Fans whether they approve of a move for the Spurs sensation, and many did not, insisting Reyes Cleary should be handed a first-team chance instead.

Here’s what they had to say…

Cleary, 17, has three goals in seven Premier League 2 games this term and has bagged 10 goals and an assist in six games in the under-18 Premier League.

He is attracting attention from some of the bigwigs from the top-flight and Bundesliga [Daily Mail], but he is yet to sign a professional contract or make his first-team bow.

Ismael clearly is not looking to count on him anytime soon, but that has left fans baffled amid the links with Markanday.

The Spurs starlet has made his first-team debut, and the club want him to go to where he can continue developing while playing senior football.

West Brom see him as an option, but should they be handing Cleary a chance instead?

It appears they do not believe that he is good and mature enough to play in the Championship.

Ismael would have gotten several reports on him from the youth team coaches, and the Frenchman is not convinced that he can make a contribution for his side just yet.
