Ismael drops big West Brom transfer hint

Valerien Ismael has indicated that plans are in place at West Brom for the January transfer window.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference [Express & Star] before the Baggies played Coventry City on Saturday, the Frenchman sounded confident about transfers.

Of course, Ismael didn’t reveal just how much he would have to spend, but it seems the club has made some moves, and the Frenchman has his targets.

He said: “Things are in place. I have my list with what we need for the next step.

“It’s the project, the way to play and what kind of player we want to have and work with.

“Now it’s clear the next step is important; the next transfer window is important to find the right player to make the next step on that way.

“Things are in place behind the scenes; that’s the only thing I can say. And I am confident we can get what we want.”

Exactly what we want to hear.

Now, this is a really positive update, and it implies that the Baggies are ready to spring into action when the window opens.

Joseph Masi claims that a striker is thought to be the priority, and that sounds sensible as the Baggies are struggling to score goals.

Defensively, in most games, they have been good, but goalscoring has proved to be a real problem area for Albion.

So they have to get a striker because otherwise, things won’t improve, and they will continue to struggle in front of goal.

Now, it will be intriguing to see who they go for and also what other positions they look to strengthen in.

However, it seems like they have plans in place, and January could prove to be a successful window.

You would have to say that January could prove to be make-or-break for Albion’s automatic promotion hopes, so hopefully, they have a strong window.
