Luke Hatfield predicts West Brom will need a substantial fee for Daryl Dike

Luke Hatfield believes West Brom will need to pay a “substantial” fee if they are to sign Daryl Dike on loan in January.

In January, the Baggies apparently want to reunite the USA international with Valerien Ismael [Express and Star].

However, the Baggies’ new social media officer, who’s just left his journalist job at the Express & Star, can’t see Orlando City letting the 21-year-old go for cheap.

Speaking to Give Me Sport, he said: “Dike’s not a cheap player to pick up.

“We saw that when he went to Barnsley. I mean, they paid a substantial loan fee to bring him in at Oakwell, and Albion would have to do the same thing.”

Dike still an option?

In his one half-season in the Championship, Dike scored nine goals for Ismael’s Barnsley and proved that he could handle himself in the division.

Hatfield mentions a substantial fee, but if the Frenchman wants Dike and thinks he is the man to get the Baggies promoted, why wouldn’t they take the risk and pay it?

What is a multi-million-pound fee when compared with the incredible TV money and other funds that come with Premier League status?

So, these are the risks that Albion’s board have to weigh up, but it is so clear that West Brom need a striker, and Dike has performed for Ismael in the past.

He really could be the man they need to get promoted, and you would hope that the board would see that and splash out on the forward.

So, it remains to be seen what happens, but at the moment, it would seem unlikely that the Baggies will sign Dike, which would be a shame.
