Kevin Phillips reacts as West Brom confirm signing of Daryl Dike this week

We’re delighted to welcome former West Brom striker Kevin Phillips as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Hawthorns

Kevin Phillips was left thrilled by West Brom confirming the signing of Daryl Dike from Orlando City this week.

The ex-Baggies talisman has backed the American international to succeed at The Hawthorns with his ability to find the back of the net much needed.

Valerien Ismael has reunited with his former Barnsley loanee, who will sit out of the FA Cup clash against Brighton.

Dike arrived early this week, with the Baggies splashing out millions to get a permanent deal over the line.

“On his day, he’s a good player,” he exclusively told West Brom News.

“He certainly knows where the back of the net is and I’ve said all along that isn’t going to break the bank but he’s a good player.

“He obviously knows the manager already, we’ve seen how good Mowatt is so that could be a really good signing. they needed another striker, it was as simple as that who can find the net regularly and hopefully he can be that person.”

The final third has been a huge issue for the Baggies this season, with the lack of a constant goalscorer really harming them.

With the likes of Aleksandar Mitrovic, Dom Solanke and Ben Brereton-Diaz carrying teams around them, the Albion will be hoping that Dike can do the same.

Jordan Hugill hasn’t cut the mustard, and it is time for the new American star around town to come in and show him how it’s done.
