West Brom duo Matt Clarke and Jayson Molumby could be recalled by Brighton

Brighton players Matt Clarke and Jayson Molumby who are on loan at West Brom, could be recalled by their parent club in January.

Seagulls boss Graham Potter confirmed that due to the surge in Covid cases, he could be compelled into bringing back a few players who were otherwise set to be out for the rest of the season.

Clarke and Molumby, both of whom have been first-team players under Valerien Ismael may leave before the window shuts.

When asked about potential recalling players, Potter said, via Sussex Live, “Without zooming into specifics, probably yes. You would have to think that way. That’s a way of maybe increasing your squad or covering yourself.”

Must stay

West Brom do not have the deepest of squads in the league so losing one or both of the Brighton players could be devastating.

The Baggies only just signed Daryl Dike and for once have a squad that looks good enough to finish in the top two.

Clarke has started 16 games at the heart of the West Brom defence and has been an impressive performer this term.

He’s become one of Ismael’s first names on the team sheet which is testament to his spectacular displays since moving in the summer.

Molumby, on the other hand, has not been a regular starter for the club, coming off the bench the same number of occasions he’s been named in the playing eleven. (7)

However, given Robert Snodgrass’ uncertain future, he could be in line for games in the new year and losing him would be a blow.
