West Brom subject of hilarious German quiz show question

West Brom have been gaining international interest after they were the subject of a rather unusual question on a German quiz show.

The participants were asked who the mascot of the club was with the answer given as the Ideal Boiler Man.

Brought to the attention of fans by Dean Walton, who wrote Born to be a Baggie, other answers included a suspected bank robber and someone who walks to every away game.

A Common Misconception

Look, it was a funny joke at first and had it been any other club than yours, you would have laughed too, but a joke always has an expiry date and this has gone way beyond that.

For those who are unaware, Baggie Bird is actually the West Brom mascot as Ideal Boiler Man is the mascot for the club’s shirt sponsor Ideal Heating.

West Brom fans have had enough of being made a mockery of with these false mascot claims and now the news is spreading international, it needs nipping in the bud.

Baggie Bird has been a staple at The Hawthorns for decades and the Ideal Boiler Man should not take away from that, no matter how funny rival clubs find it.

But he has started to become part of the furniture at The Hawthorns, with Ideal Heating sponsoring the club since 2018.

Even the Telegraph have posed the question whether Boiler Man is the best mascot ever.

He may well be. But let’s not forget who the real West Brom mascot is. Dave Chall deserves more than that for the superb work he does for the club.
