Jeff Stelling and Neil Mellor predict result of West Brom clash v Brighton

Jeff Stelling has backed Brighton to scrape past West Brom in the FA Cup third round this afternoon at The Hawthorns.

The popular Sky Sports Soccer Saturday host has predicted that it will finish 1-0 to the Premier League side.

Valerien Ismael has vowed to play his strongest side available but will be missing key players such as Sam Johnstone and Alex Mowatt.

Sharing his prediction for Sky Sports’ Super 6, Stelling backed the Premier League side to leave with the win.

Neil Mellor agreed with the popular Sky host, sharing that the Seagulls are now full of confidence given their form.

“Brighton are full of confidence at the moment and I think they will take advantage of a West Brom side who are lacking in that department,” he said.

“The Baggies are winless in three and find themselves slipping down the EFL Championship table, but in this FA Cup tie they will have a tough afternoon with Brighton progressing to the next round.”

No chance?

Graham Potter has got Brighton playing some wonderful football this season, something we haven’t been too lucky to see.

The Baggies have struggled immensely since starting the season with a brilliant unbeaten run, with their lack of goalscoring ability something that is hampering everyone.

On top of that, we have the sudden tendency to concede stupid goals and hand opportunities to the opposition – something we can’t afford to do today.

A big win against Brighton today would be the perfect boost that is needed at this moment in time, and hopefully, it could change our fortunes in the Championship as things stand.

Does anybody see that happening though? It looks not.
