Kevin Phillips: Robert Snodgrass set for West Brom exit in January

We’re delighted to welcome former West Brom striker Kevin Phillips as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Hawthorns

Kevin Phillips has insisted that Robert Snodgrass is likely to leave West Brom before the end of the January window.

The ex-Baggies talisman admitted that the Scotsman will just want to go and play football after being frozen out by Valerien Ismael at The Hawthorns [Alan Nixon].

Phillips claimed that given Snodgrass’ big wages, the Albion could make two new signings this month should he leave in the imminent future.

“I would have thought so,” he exclusively told West Brom News.

“From all parties concerned, Snodgrass might go, it’s been made clear he’s not in the plans.

“I’m pretty sure he’s on a decent wage there so if they can get him through the door and free that up, that might be the option to bring a couple of players in on his salary alone.

It makes sense. Snodgrass will just want to go play football somewhere.”

This is the best move for all parties at this moment in time.

Snodgrass was given chances against the likes of Bristol City and Fulham earlier in the season but has since appeared to have fallen out with Ismael.

There is no point in keeping him around if that outlook doesn’t look like changing, and based on recent selection, that appears to be the case.

Snodgrass leaving could open the door to a new signing, possibly even two if Phillips is spot, so let’s get this ball rolling quickly for everyone’s sake.
