Kevin Phillips warns against West Brom signing Lazio forward Vedat Muriqi

We’re delighted to welcome former West Brom striker Kevin Phillips as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Hawthorns…

Kevin Phillips has warned West Brom against signing Lazio forward Vedat Muriqi in the January transfer window.

The ex-Baggies talisman insisted he has “massive reservations” with the colossal attacker failing to score so far this season.

A Spor have even reported this week that Muriqi has jetted into England to complete his move to the Baggies – something that hasn’t happened as yet.

“You could bring someone through the door who can score goals,” he exclusively told West Brom News.

“I have massive reservations about this guy, he hasn’t scored a single goal already this season then you’re bringing a player who is bang low on confidence.

“At this stage of the season, you need to bring someone in who has at least found the back of the net this season. I’d be very cautious of bringing someone in of that ilk. To not have scored a goal at all, I’d be very. very cautious.”

There is no need for the Baggies to get this deal done.

Daryl Dike has already arrived this month as our marquee January signing, and adding another forward would take away from that.

Jordan Hugill is still at the club, and adding Callum Robinson into the mix, Valerien Ismael has plenty of options in the final third.

Phillips has warned the Albion against this, and there won’t be many, if any, who disagree with him looking into it.

In other West Brom news, an ex-FIFA official wants a huge action made against Jake Livermore and Albion’s current crisis.
