West Brom boss Ismael details January transfer plans

Valerien Ismael has emphasised the need for more outgoings at West Brom before the end of the January transfer window.

With ten days left before the window closes, Albion boss Ismael is hopeful of clearing the dead weight from his squad with Jordan Hugill, Robert Snodgrass and Kenneth Zohore available to leave the Hawthorns.

Ismael hasn’t ruled out any incomings before January 31 but it is unlikely with the Baggies taking care of their business early with the introduction of Daryl Dike.

“Everything is on outgoings,” Ismael told Express & Star.

“We will see. I think maybe next week things will take more speed.

“But are working behind the scenes to make sure first we can get some outgoings before we can get some incoming.”

Enough fire power?

West Brom should increase their focus on more signings before the end of the January transfer window.

The introduction of Dike will hopefully sooth the goalscoring issues Albion have found themselves with so far this season, but it is a lot to ask for from the American.

It is unlikely one player will completely transform this team and two wins in the Baggies last ten outings simply isn’t good enough.

Freeing up the wage bill and places within the squad will help when bringing in new players but Ismael’s comments make any more additions this window seem unlikely.

The addition of Dike is a huge boost for Albion’s promotion fight but relying solely on the 21-year-old is a huge risk.

The Baggies are going to have to change things up and fast before their promotion hopes fall out of reach which will happen if they continue on their current path.

As doubtful as more incomings for financial reasons, West Brom can’t afford to look back with regret come the end of the season.

In other Albion news, Jordan Hugill could leave West Brom amid two Championship clubs interest.
