Kevin Phillips: Grady Diangana only going to get better for West Brom after goal v Peterborough
We’re delighted to welcome former West Brom striker Kevin Phillips as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Hawthorns…
Kevin Phillips has backed Grady Diangana to reach another level for West Brom after the 3-0 win over Peterborough.
The ex-Baggies talisman admitted that the winger will be full of confidence after scoring his first goal of the season.
Diangana has shined at The Hawthorns ever since arriving from West Ham but has struggled in the past couple of seasons.
“Of course it does,” he exclusively told West Brom News.
“We all know what an exciting talent he is, and that season he was excellent, but he hasn’t quite been the same this year for whatever reason.
“As an ex-player, when you get a goal, it gives you loads of confidence in a comfortable win against Peterborough, a win that they needed to launch a run of games where they can get some points.
“I think as a player, and as a manager as well, he will be delighted. Hopefully, he’ll only get better and better.”
This could make a big difference to the rest of this Championship campaign.
Diangana in full flow is almost impossible to stop, as we all found out during his first loan spell nearly three years ago.
With Daryl Dike already picking up an injury, there will be more pressure on the front three once again at The Hawthorns.
Karlan Grant is firing on all cylinders, but we need more consistency from the likes of Diangana.
Let’s all hope this is the springboard that can push the winger back to his best form between now and the end of the season.
