James Morrison likely to take charge of West Brom training until new manager is hired
James Morrison is likely to take charge of first-team training as West Brom hunt down a new manager, according to The Athletic’s Steve Madeley.
On Wednesday (2 February), it was confirmed that Valerien Ismael had been sacked by the Baggies with assistant Adam Murray also departing.
Writing on The Athletic website, Madeley reports that there’s no mention of a caretaker manager at The Hawthorns so there’s a strong chance that ex-Albion midfielder Morrison will lead training in the meantime.

Mozza’s in charge
If you’re Saido Berahino, this would be your worst nightmare.
West Brom seem as though they want to make a swift appointment to replace Ismael after he was sacked on Wednesday.
His exit is no shock at all given the club’s drop in form, which is now the fourth-worst in the Championship from the last six games.
Since September, we’ve only secured back-to-back wins on one occasion and Ismael’s style of football, failure to control discipline and predictable tactics have been an absolute eyesore.

We’d go as far to say that these last few months under Ismael have been worse than the dying embers of Tony Pulis’ reign at The Hawthorns.
In the last two decades, the Baggies have not finished lower than fourth in the second-tier and if Ismael stayed in charge, that almost certainly would have happened.
West Brom have plenty of time to find a replacement for Ismael before their next league game, which is against Sheffield United on February 9.
Let’s see if they can act swiftly because Ismael’s sacking has been on the cards for a while and a list should’ve already been drawn up.
In other West Brom news, Ismael isn’t the only senior man to leave the club today.
