Kevin Phillips thrilled by West Brom form of Karlan Grant

We’re delighted to welcome former West Brom striker Kevin Phillips as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Hawthorns…

Kevin Phillips has been thrilled by the “Massive” return to form of West Brom forward Karlan Grant in the past week.

The ex-Baggies talisman insisted that the attacker will be critical for Steve Bruce if he has any hopes of a late push for the play-offs.

Grant made it three goals in his last two against his former side Huddersfield last night, as the Albion rescued a point in the 2-2 draw.

“He’s come back into form at a time when Steve is looking for results,” he exclusively told West Brom News.

“It hasn’t been great since he’s been there, it’s been disappointing. For him to get some goals, it will be a massive boost for Bruce and the lads moving forward if they have any aspirations of getting in the play-offs, someone has got to step up and he’s certainly a player that can do that.

“Big, big boost.”

No chance?

Grant in form or not, the play-offs appear further away with each passing week in the Championship.

The striker and his side are still seven points behind sixth-placed Luton with only 10 games to go, and the performances aren’t getting any better.

Grant has been the one who has stood up and been counted in terms of goals, but with the return of Daryl Dike coming too, who knows?
