West Brom tipped to beat already relegated Barnsley in final match of the season
Sky Sports pundit David Prutton predicts West Brom to end their torrid Championship campaign on a positive note at home to Barnsley.
Steve Bruce’s side currently sit 10th in the second tier after dramatically dropping out of the promotion picture.
The Baggies sat third in the table in November under Valérien Ismaël.
However, a poor run of form and change of manager has seen the Hawthorns side drop out of the playoffs and into mid-table.
West Brom face Barnsley on the last day of the season at the Hawthorns and in his Sky sports predictions Prutton believes the Baggies will finish the season with a 2-0 victory.
What next for the Baggies
This season has been one to forget for West Brom.
The change of management with Steve Bruce taking the reigns hasn’t had the desired impact for the Baggies.
Bruce looks set to be at the Hawthorns next season as West Brom look to mount a more meaningful promotion campaign.
Bruce has expressed his desire to deploy a back four next season after stressing the importance of being defensively sound as a priority.
This news is slightly perplexing, and disappointing for the Hawthorns’ faithful.
The Baggies are the fourth lowest scorers in the Championship, with only 48 goals this season.
Leaders Fulham have a 106 for some context.
The Baggies have the sixth best defensive record in the Championship, so Bruce should potentially be focussing at the other end of the pitch.
Baggies’ fans need to be excited going into the new season and the prospect of more defensive football isn’t going to give Bruce much leeway if things don’t improve.
