West Brom consider loan move for Aston Villa striker Cameron Archer this summer

West Brom are considering a summer loan bid to sign Aston Villa striker Cameron Archer, according to the Express and Star on Tuesday afternoon [14 June].

The newspaper has reported on their website that Steve Bruce wants someone who could play as a lone attacker, as well as partnering Daryl Dike if needed at The Hawthorns.

Steven Gerrard is set to take a look at Archer when returning back from pre-season before making a decision regarding his immediate future in the 2022-23 season.

If made available, there will be a real battle to secure his services.

Middlesbrough, Watford, QPR and Scottish giants Rangers are all said to be in the race for the England youth international, who spent last season at Preston North End.

Villa are said to be in the market for another striker to challenge Danny Ings and Ollie Watkins, meaning that it is very likely that Archer will be made available to move on.

Power.

Wow, this could be a brilliant piece of business.

Dike hopefully returning to full fitness over the summer will leave Steve Bruce with an absolute powerhouse available to use frequently in the final third.

With Archer potentially next to him, no defence in the Championship would ever be comfortable against them, and it could create a partnership that pushes us towards the Premier League.

The 20-year-old has proved that he has an eye for goal, and makes it look easy at times in the final third.

It will be interesting to see if Villa hold the rivalry against the Baggies if they did make a move, but if they want Archer involved in a push for promotion, there would be nowhere better.

After the signing of John Swift, there is real hope that this squad is being strengthened to go places, and Ron Gourlay will need to sell that to Archer.

Described as “Stunning” during his time at Preston, Archer has scored at The Hawthorns in 2022 and this certainly makes sense at every level.

In other West Brom news, the Baggies have tabled an official offer to seal yet another major new signing this month
