Steve Bruce family ties crucial in Jed Wallace imminent West Brom arrival

Steve Bruce’s family ties to Jed Wallace may have been crucial in luring the former Milwall man to West Brom, as reported by The Express and Star.

The newspaper reported on 22 June, that the much sought-after attacker is undergoing his medical before completing his move to the Baggies.

The Express and Star suggested that Bruce’s close family ties to Wallace have been crucial in getting a deal over the line.

Wallace is good friends with Bruce’s son-in-law and Salford striker Matt Smith, who Wallace previously played with at The Den.

Statement of intent

This is a serious statement of intent from the Baggies and was much-needed.

The arrival of John Swift was a big attacking boost for West Brom, who struggled badly for any creative spark in the second half of last season.

The imminent arrival of Wallace is a big statement from Bruce and the club hierarchy, indicating that they can compete financially for the best players in the Championship.

Wallace is a proven player in England’s second tier and will almost guarantee a solid attacking output for West Brom in the 2022/23 campaign.

Bruce’s early summer business can certainly get The Hawthorns faithful exciting for the upcoming campaign.

The Baggies were defensively sound last season, so with their early attacking additions, Bruce is certainly making the right moves in the transfer market.

The West Brom boss certainly needs to get off to a good start in the early part of the season, with many fans still unconvinced by his appointment.

With the signings the Baggies are making, Bruce doesn’t have anywhere to hide if things don’t go to plan.

In other West Brom news, Albion are also in advanced talks to sign another new player at The Hawthorns this summer.
