Jed Wallace heaps praise on West Brom teammate Daryl Dike

West Brom newly-signed winger Jed Wallace believes that striker Daryl Dike can be the difference maker for the team in the upcoming campaign.

The Baggies finished last season in the 10th position of the Championship table, eight points behind sixth-placed Luton Town.

Wallace was quoted in a report by the Express & Star where he compared the USMNT international with the likes of Steve Morison and Matt Smith.

“He (Dike) is someone that can attack the deliveries I’m going to put in the box,” he said. “I have played with some very good centre forwards that like to get on the end of crosses in my time.

“When I think of Millwall, I had Morison and Smith. Daryl falls into that category. But not only is he a big lad, he is very, very, mobile and you saw that with the goal.

“He got across his man really well. The cross is one thing but, for me, it’s all about the end product.”

Important Attacking Option

West Brom are just days away from starting their new campaign with a tough fixture against Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium.

One of the reasons why the Baggies are still in the second-tier of English football is the lack of productivity in the final third in the previous campaign.

Therefore, Steve Bruce will have a mammoth task of bringing West Brom back into the Premier League and if he has to achieve that feat, Dike will have to play a big part in that.

The 21-year-old scored 11 goals in 19 appearances in the MLS and the MLS Playoffs for Orlando City last year. He played a total of 1415 minutes for the American club last season [Transfermarkt].

As a result of his performances, he received his first international cap for the United States. Looking at his performances, he may have a role to play in the upcoming World Cup as well at such a young age.

In other West Brom news, this Manchester United teenager has piqued the interest of Steve Bruce but there is a lot of competition over a loan signing.
