West Brom suffer major blow in pursuit of Elliot Anderson after Eddie Howe's recent comments

West Brom have suffered a blow in their pursuit of Newcastle United midfielder Elliot Anderson in the ongoing transfer window.

The Baggies have been in the market to sign players on loan to strengthen their squad ahead of the next campaign.

It is because of this reason they’ve been linked with the 19-year-old, as shared by Edinburgh News.

However, Newcastle manager Eddie Howe, in a recent comment as quoted by Chronicle Live, suggested that Anderson is likely to stay at the club after impressive performances in the pre-season.

“He [Anderson] has performed very well but no decision will be made (on his future) until the end of the transfer window, probably the last few days,” he said.

“At the moment, it looks like he’ll stay, because of how he is performing.”

One for the Future

With time, it has become increasingly difficult that the Baggies are going to land Anderson in the ongoing transfer window.

However, if they do get this transfer over the line, this is the kind of player that can stun English football in years to come because the kind of qualities he has shown while being on loan, it is clear why he is extremely highly rated by the Magpies.

In the 2021-22 season with Bristol Rovers, the 19-year-old made 21 appearances in League Two, scoring eight goals and providing five assists [Transfermarkt].

Even though he prefers to play as an attacking midfielder, the Scotland U21 International can also play as a central midfielder and a left-sided midfielder due to his incredible positional awareness.

Despite signing a lot of top-quality players, West Brom still does not have a dynamic player like Anderson and despite the latest words from Howe, Bruce should keep chasing the midfielder till the very end of the season.

In other West Brom news, this Manchester United teenager has piqued the interest of Steve Bruce but there is a lot of competition over a loan signing.
