West Brom have updated their Companies House documents on Friday (05 August) to show that Ron Gourlay has now changed his roles at the club.
The updated document shows that Gourlay has seen his role as Director terminated by the Baggies, although he still remains at the club.
Joseph Chapman reacted to the news to share that the chief has stepped down from the WBA Group, to only concentrate on being the CEO of the club.
Chapman shared the news on his personal Twitter account, explaining the news after tonnes of Baggies fans were left confused by the “Termination” updates.
“Re Ron Gourlay/Companies House, he has decided to step down as a company director of WBA Group,” he wrote.
“Remains CEO of the club and continues to oversee the daily running of the club.”
We expect this one to be explained by the club sooner rather than later.
Whenever you see the word termination or anything similar to that, it causes panic with the potential of major change happening already.
Gourlay appears to have some stability at the club with Steve Bruce and Guochuan Lai, and that looks as though it will not change with this development.
Of course, we didn’t expect it, but if it does not affect Gourlay and his day-to-day running of the football club, we shouldn’t see too much change.
Bruce will concentrate on matters solely on the pitch, and the rest will be handled by the CEO and the team around him, with promotion the only goal this season.
There is never a dull day at The Hawthorns, and this just proves that as we get news thrown at us from absolutely nowhere with eagled-eyed viewers watching every twist and turn.
