Caleb Taylor reveals what West Brom squad thought in dressing room when play halted v Wolves

Caleb Taylor has revealed what the West Brom players were thinking when play was halted in their FA Cup game against Wolves on 28 January.

Speaking to The Bolton News on Friday (9 February), the 21-year-old said the players knew they were going to come back out about 20 minutes later after trouble broke out in the stands at The Hawthorns, where Wanderers claimed a 2-0 victory.

The English centre-back also discussed his debut for Bolton Wanderers, who he joined on loan in January, after their League One game against Cambridge United was abandoned due to a waterlogged pitch on Tuesday (6 February).

“I played in the West Brom game against Wolves the other week, which was stopped in the 70th minute just as I was about to come on,” said Taylor. “We were all in the changing room, but we knew that we would come back out after about 20 minutes.

“As soon as we went in (at Cambridge) we were thinking, ‘If we are going in now, there is no chance the game is going to carry on’. It was so frustrating with all the fans travelling down.”

Strange situation for West Brom players against Wolves

It must have been a strange situation for the West Brom and Wolves players when they were sat waiting to come back out for their FA Cup game.

It obviously caused plenty of anxiety for some of them as they had family members in the section where most of the trouble broke out, with footage showing Kyle Bartley escorting his family away from danger.

Taylor would have been desperate to get the game restarted as he revealed that he was about to come off the bench for one of his few appearances of this season.

In his latest interview, the defender revealed that he thought he’d be more involved at The Hawthorns during this campaign, having had a solid loan spell with Cheltenham Town last year.

But he now has the opportunity to go out and impress with Bolton to put him in a better position to earn more minutes with the Baggies next season.

In other West Brom news, Neil Moxley has dubbed a Wolves fan a “moron” after what happened against the Baggies.
