Callum Robinson sends two-word message to Cedric Kipre after West Brom development
Cedric Kipre received messages of congratulations from former West Brom players Callum Robinson and Romaine Sawyers after winning the Players’ Player of the Season award.
It was confirmed by the club’s official website (5 May) that the centre-back – who spent last season on loan at Cardiff City – has had an impressive campaign at The Hawthorns, helping the club seal their spot in the play-offs.
Kipre posted on Instagram about winning the award, writing: “THANK YOU to all of you and to my teammates for picking me as your player of the season!
“Your support today was unmatched play offs time let’s gooo!”
Robinson, who is now at Cardiff, replied: “My superstar.”
Sawyers, also now with the Bluebirds, added: “MY CB” with a love heart emoji.
Cedric Kipre a colossus for West Brom this season
It has been quite the revival for Kipre at The Hawthorns, especially given he spent last season with Cardiff and there was no guarantee he even had a long-term future with the Baggies.
But this season, the 27-year-old has been a colossus for Carlos Corberan’s men and was rightly acknowledged by his team-mates as the club’s Player’s Player of the Year because he has been the ultimate team-mate.
Obviously, there is still plenty of work to do. West Brom have a play-off semi-final to look forward to against Southampton and put an end to a recent dip with a convincing 3-0 victory over Preston – a match in which Kipre excelled – on the final day of the regular season.
If they are to get past the Saints and then either Leeds United or Norwich City in the final, then they are going to need Kipre to put in some big performances at the heart of defence. If anyone is ready for that challenge it is Kipre.
