West Brom make approach to sign Sorba Thomas amid £1m Huddersfield exit development

West Brom have approached Huddersfield Town with an enquiry about signing forward Sorba Thomas, according to The Sun.

The newspaper reported in its print edition (page 59, 14 July) that Carlos Corberan would take Thomas at The Hawthorns having worked with him previously during his time in charge at Huddersfield.

However, the Baggies are not willing to pay the asking price for the Welshman.

French side Nantes have made an offer with the Terriers hopeful of sealing a £1million deal.

West Brom keen to sign Sorba Thomas from Huddersfield Town

The Baggies do not want to risk upsetting Corberan.

It is understandable why the manager wants to sign Thomas having worked with him previously. Therefore, if Thomas is a target for Corberan, perhaps the club should try their best to sign him.

Thomas scored four goals and provided nine assists last season as Huddersfield Town were relegated from the EFL Championship, and Corberan clearly feels as though the 25-year-old has something to offer at West Brom.

While paying £1million for the player might seem like a lot, it could benefit the club massively in the long run.

Thomas could prove to be a very useful asset at The Hawthorns and it would also help to keep Corberan happy, which would reduce the risk of him leaving.

In addition, Thomas might favour a reunion with his old boss over a switch to France.

If that is the case, that could help the club bring the cost of the transfer down.
