Carlos Corberan shares Jayson Molumby injury update ahead of West Brom v Portsmouth
Carlos Corberan has admitted Jayson Molumby has picked up a foot injury while on international duty but refused to rule him out of the clash between West Brom and Portsmouth.
The Baggies make the trip to Fratton Park on Sunday (15 September) as they look to extend their unbeaten start to the Championship season to five games after the international break.
Although Corberan is set to be boosted by the return of Grady Diangana, the Albion boss will have to make a late call on Molumby after the Ireland midfielder returned from international duty with a new knock.
As quoted by Birmingham Live on Friday (13 September) Corberan said: “He arrived back after the international break with a problem in the foot, the other foot to the one he had an injury in before.
“He has been working with the medical staff, but it doesn’t mean he is going to be out. We need to see how he is on Saturday. In the last game, he had some pain there so we’ll see how he progresses.”
Do West Brom and Carlos Corberan have any injury issues at The Hawthorns?
It would be a massive blow to both West Brom and Corberan if they aren’t able to call upon Molumby for their trip to Fratton Park on Sunday, especially after their impressive start to the league campaign.
The 25-year-old has started all four of the Baggies’ opening games of the season and barring a handful of rash challenges here and there, his performances have played a major part in Albion’s winning run of form.
A foot injury saw the Irish international sidelined for the majority of the second half of last season and while the Baggies coped without him, Corberan will be desperate to not make any changes to the team that has impressed so far this term.

The Albion boss’ comments suggest that this latest knock isn’t anything too serious. Perhaps it would be best if Molumby was given an extended break to get back to full fitness so that he doesn’t risk aggravating his knock against Pompey.
Hopefully, whatever side Corberan fields against Portsmouth will manage to get the job done and bring all three points back to The Hawthorns.
