Louie Barry tipped for shock West Brom return as Aston Villa exit beckons
Bryan King believes West Brom could agree a deal with Aston Villa to take Louie Barry on loan in January.
The ex-Villa scout was speaking exclusively to Villa News [24 December] after Unai Emery’s side confirmed via their official X account that Barry would be recalled from his loan at Stockport County in January.
King believes that several Championship clubs competing near the top of the table, including the likes of Leeds United, Burnley, Sheffield United and the Baggies – who might soon need a new frontman – as well as League One high-flyers Birmingham City, could all show an interest in the striker this January.
Barry could find himself back at The Hawthorns after leaving his boyhood club to join Barcelona in 2019.
West Brom to agree Louie Barry loan deal with Aston Villa in January?
Barry has excelled in League One with Stockport County this season, scoring 14 goals and providing three assists in 21 league matches.
Therefore, if he were to become available in January, West Brom could benefit from bringing the 21-year-old back to the club, even if it is just on loan.
However, supporters would of course need to find a way to forgive the youngster and look past the slightly unfavourable way in which he left The Hawthorns, which saw the club receive no compensation for the player before he eventually ended up at one of their local rivals.
In addition, a lot will depend on which manager ends up in the hot seat at The Hawthorns.
It looks as though the club are set for a multi-million boost with Carlos Corberán on his way out [via Ben Jacobs, 23 December], and speculation has already begun to swirl about who might replace the 41-year-old.

Therefore, a potential Barry return to the Hawthorns won’t become clear until a new manager is appointed, as ultimately, that manager will be the one to decide whether or not he fancies the Villa gem.
In other West Brom news, the club have been urged to hire Graham Potter after a shock at The Hawthorns.
