West Brom new manager: Swansea blow as BBC journo shares Luke Williams update

West Brom potential managerial candidate Luke Williams “has some support” in a potential switch to The Hawthorns, according to Chris Lepkowski.

West Midlands football journalist Lepkowski, who writes for BBC Sport, shared on X [29 December] that it comes as “no surprise” that Williams is one of the names in the frame to succeed Carlos Corberan.

Williams, currently in charge of Championship rivals Swansea City, is included in a list of candidates which Albion are working through to find the right successor for new Valencia boss Corberan – and the Baggies are willing to pay compensation to get their first choice.

“Seeing Luke Williams mentioned is no surprise. He has some support,” Lepkowski posted to follow up DOOD’s mention on X via West Brom Xtra [29 December] that Williams and Steven Schumacher are two names lined up for talks.

West Brom considering Swansea City and Blackburn Rovers coaches

West Brom are certainly shifting about the weight they possess with their managerial hunt, knowing there are big boots to fill left by Corberan.

It was already reported on Saturday [DOOD on X, 28 December] that Blackburn Rovers boss John Eustace is a candidate being considered, despite Rovers sitting above the Baggies in the Championship table.

Now Swansea chief Williams is also under consideration, and it looks as if the hierarchy at The Hawthorns are fully ready to part with some millions to acquire their preferred man.

Corberan commanded compensation himself for Valencia to take his services which does offer Shilen Patel the required boost, as Andrew Nestor leads on the recruitment mission for the Spaniard’s successor.

Albion kept things ticking under interim boss Chris Brunt on Sunday, securing a 1-1 draw away at promotion favourites Sheffield United.

In other West Brom news, there could be a “perfect” opportunity to sign a Liverpool man coming Albion’s way.
