Mark Robins set to be hired in new Championship role amid West Brom speculation

Stoke City are set to hire Mark Robins as their new manager amid links with West Brom, according to Paul Joyce.

The Times journalist reported via his personal X account on Tuesday (31 December) that after sacking Narcis Pelach on 27 December, the Potters have turned to ex-Coventry City boss Robins to lead them in the Championship.

Robins had been linked with the vacancy at The Hawthorns and was initially installed as the bookmakers’ favourite to replace Carlos Corberan when he left for Valencia on Christmas Eve.

Who will be the next West Brom manager?

Well, it doesn’t look as though it’ll be Robins.

The former Coventry and Northampton boss’ name was on the lips of a lot of fans after Corberan left on Christmas Eve but it seems that those who did want him in charge will be disappointed.

Stoke have moved quicker than Albion to find a new manager. However, it’s likely they’d been planning a new hire for a while as they decided to sack their boss.

With the Baggies, Corberan’s exit was kind of a shock with Valencia hiring him just over 24 hours after they sacked their last manager.

It meant that Shilen Patel and Andrew Nestor didn’t have the headstart Stoke maybe did and if Robins was someone of interest, they’ve missed out due to the speediness of Corberan’s departure.

However, it’s likely that Albion can get someone in who’s better than Robins.

Stoke are 18th in the table, 10 places below and 11 points behind the Baggies.

Maybe that’s Robins’ level?
